Mr. Jhinaoui congratulated the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs on the exceptional level achieved of the partnership between the two countries, stressing that the session, which included the delegations of the two countries, made it possible to focus on the various aspects of bilateral relations between Tunisia and Hungary and the significant opportunities available between the two countries to develop their cooperation bilaterally or within the framework of the Visegtrád group countries Including Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, particularly in the economic and security fields including border control and the fight against illegal immigration.

The Ministers also discussed the financial support and important investment of the exim bank following the decision of the Hungarian Foreign Minister during his visit to Tunisia in April 2017 to increase the amount of the funding line allocated by the Hungarian government of 60.3 to 255 million euros, which will be allocated to facilitate export operations between the two countries and the financing of the establishment of Tunisian-Hungarian enterprises.

The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó praised the Tunisian experience in the field of democratic transition, highlighting Hungary’s continued support to Tunisia to meet the security and development challenges she is confronted.

The Hungarian Minister believes that Tunisia has taken important steps to secure its borders and strengthen the security and stability elements they have contributed to strengthening the security of the European continent, underlining Hungary’s concern to help Tunisia to protect its borders through the exchange of experiences and to support training in this area.

The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade has stressed his willingness to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially higher education, by deciding to increase the number of scholarships granted to students wishing to study in Hungary 200 scholarships a year and cooperation in the field of water resources.

Péter Szijjártó also underlined the importance of Hungary’s cooperation with the countries of the African continent on the basis of a common interest and willingness to contribute to development efforts in Africa.
